This project is the first of its kind in the Wabanaki region (Atlantic Canada), where Indigenous persons with disabilities and special needs are the focus.

This is a collaborative research project brought to you by the Wabanaki Council on Disability and the Mawitam’k Society. The goal of this research is to hear the voices of Indigenous people and in particular persons with disabilities and special needs, their families, and caregivers.

This project is developed by Indigenous people for Indigenous people. It is our belief that disability and accessibility must be viewed through Indigenous traditional and ancestral perspectives, while ensuring safety and inclusivity.
